As part of our ongoing campaign to come down heavily on fly-tippers across the borough, Walsall Council crushed a vehicle used in recent fly-tipping.
Walsall Council Leader, Councillor Mike Bird had some very strong words for fly-tippers in Walsall, as the authority cracks down on illegal dumpers.
” We will find you, we will fine you and we will crush your vehicle.”
Walsall Council has powers to stop fly-tippers in their tracks by seizing their vehicles and then crushing them, or depending on their market value sell them for council revenue. Earlier this week at a Scrapyard, the Walsall Council Leader, witnessed the first crushing in the borough of such a vehicle. The seized Vauxhall Zafira was known to have dumped up to 38 bags of rubbish at Rayboulds Bridge, Walsall.
What else are we doing:
- We have increased the fines for fly-tipping and there is a maximum penalty of an unlimited fine or up to five years in prison.
- Early morning raids are conducted to seize suspect vehicles.
- Criminal investigations are underway against businesses and individuals associated with fly-tipping.
