What is the Boundary Review

What is happening

The way in which you choose your Member of Parliament is changing. As part of a national review to make sure each voter has the same voice, the constituency boundaries which determine who represents you is likely to change. This is to restore balance to the Parliamentary system and to account for population changes over recent years. Twenty years of changes have taken place and as such, our current system is in need of a significant degree of change.

The current proposals

The first proposal made by the Boundary Commission is to take the areas of Willenhall North (New Invention) and Short Heath away from Walsall and Bloxwich, and towards Wednesfield, Wolverhampton and Bushbury.

Willenhall South (Willenhall Town Centre) would be also taken away but placed instead into a constituency forming of Bilston, Darlaston and Ettingshall.

Our response

This proposal would seriously damage the links which the three parts of Willenhall town share. Our main town centre would be represented by a completely different MP as to the one in Short Heath and Willenhall North. This would not only impact our sense of identity and community but also cause major confusion for residents. The boundary which decides which individuals and families are represented by which MP, would be unclear and damage the ability of residents to be properly represented and supported.

How to make your voice heard

The Boundary Commission website allows everyone to comment on the proposals and make their voice heard. We encourage every resident to make a comment since each one will be reviewed by the Boundary Commission before they make their final proposals. This is the moment in which you can make a real change in how you are going to be represented in the future.
