We are excited to announce that work on Willenhall's first railway station in 50 years is progressing well. The demolition of the old industrial buildings at Rose Hill is nearly complete, and the next phase involves stabilizing the underground mine shafts before construction begins this summer.
Once finished, the station will feature two platforms, a footbridge, and a 33-space car park, enhancing connectivity between Willenhall, Wolverhampton, and Birmingham New Street. This development is a crucial part of the Willenhall Masterplan, aimed at encouraging investment and bringing new homes to our area.
West Midlands Mayor Andy Street stated, "The demolition phase is almost over, and the station's construction will soon follow. This project is no longer just a plan; it's happening now."
Councillor Adrian Andrew added, "This station is a game changer for Willenhall. It's a fantastic start towards creating a vibrant town with opportunities for education and employment. We're committed to transforming derelict sites into valuable residential and commercial spaces."
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to work towards a brighter future for Willenhall with the completion of this landmark project.
