Submitting a comment to the Boundary Consultation
The first proposal for our area splits Willenhall in half. The town centre would now be covered by an MP representing Darlaston and Bilston, whilst Short Heath and Willenhall North would be represented by an MP covering Fallings Park, Heath Town, Wednesfield and Bushbury and Fordhouses.

Useful points to make
If you wish to comment against these proposals on the Boundary Commission website, you may want to make some of the following points.
- Splitting Willenhall Town Centre away from the rest of the town will jeopardise community cohesion.
- Willenhall Town Centre is the historic heart of our town. Short Heath and Willenhall North both have strong connections to the Town Centre.
- There are no clear boundaries between the Town Centre and the rest of Willenhall. It would be difficult for residents to identify which MP would represent them.
- Willenhall is part of Walsall Council, with Walsall Councillors and currently a Walsall North MP. Changing this structure would be confusing to many residents.
- It would be confusing to those residents who would be represented differently because they live closer to the Town Centre. There is no historic boundary for local people to identify.
Other points you may wish to include
- Willenhall has a long history associated with the lock industry. Famous lock-making companies such as Yale, Chubb, Union Locks, Squires all operated from the town. Assa Abloy still makes locks in the town to this day and it is a rich part of our heritage.
- Willenhall had its own District Council along with a Coat of Arms. In recent years the town has also adopted a flag, strengthening people's identity to the town. This is proudly flown from all parts of Willenhall.
