We’ve been back out planting hazel on Coppice Farm as part of our continued efforts to create a natural barrier to vehicles and make the area better for wildlife and more enjoyable for local people.
It’ll take a few years to grow out, but this will create a low hedge that will help with all of the above. We will fill in the gaps with additional planting, and seal up the remaining vehicle access once the bollards are changed to ones which can be removed when required by council crews.
I’d like to thank Emma and the rest of the team at the council for being so supportive, and also the volunteers who came on the day to help us (some of which are a bit camera shy hence why they aren’t that visible on the pictures here).
We’ve got more projects planned throughout the year, but we are coming to the end of the season for tree planting. This year we’ve added additional trees to some of our green spaces, including the recent planting by Beacon Primary School on the New Invention Community Green.
We have 51,000 seeds of native plants arriving later this month (brought from my own pocket) that will be grown ready for some of our projects next year.
